The family of Harry and Marjorie MacLauchlan of Stanhope PEI made a leadership gift to 秀色短视频 鈥嬧嬧嬧嬧嬧嬧媔n July 2011 to create a substantial program of awards that encourages and recognizes student writing achievement. The gift honours H. Wade MacLauchlan鈥檚 12 years of service as 秀色短视频 president and vice-chancellor and recognizes the importance of effective writing as a foundational skill for academic success and lifelong learning.

The 秀色短视频 Healthy Campus Commitee is extending your indoor track access at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre until October 3, 2025. Access is free, but you must register if you haven't before. Please read the following:

  1. If you had signed up for the track access in the past year, you DO NOT need to sign up again. We will adjust it on our end, so you do not need to do anything.
  2. If you never signed up for access to the indoor track, go to . We ask that all faculty, staff, students, and visitors refrain from wearing or using products with strong scents/fragrances while on campus. 

A few examples of products to refrain from wearing or using are strongly scented lotions, hair care products, shaving lotion/aftershave, air fresheners, aromatic or essential oils, and cologne/perfume/body sprays.

Sisters in Spirit vigils have been held every October 4 since 2006 in the memory of Canada鈥檚 murdered and missing Indigenous women, girls, and gender-diverse people. Sisters in Spirit Day raises public awareness to ensure that everyone, regardless of their cultural background, is aware of this crisis of violence and calls on us take action.

What each of us can do: 

  • Support Indigenous, BIPOC, and 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and organization in their work. Attend community events and respectfully listen to their messages. Educate yourself. 
  • Read Reclaiming Power and Place: The Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and their Calls for Justice. 
  • Learn about Indigenous and colonial history from an Indigenous perspective. Learn about the integral roles of women and Two Spirit people within Indigenous culture. 
  • When you see or hear actions, behaviours, or words that are harmful, ask questions, speak up, or check in. Try to mitigate the harm.

The Association of Atlantic Universities is pleased to partner with Acadia University to host the 2024 Annual AAU Teaching Showcase in Mi鈥檏ma鈥檏i, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mik鈥檓aq people and part of the beautiful Annapolis Valley in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. The 2024 AAU Teaching Showcase will take place in person on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Acadia University.

The George Coles Bursary for the 2024-2025 academic year will be awarded to eligible students in the 2025 Winter semester. Information about this provincial bursary and the eligibility criteria can be found on the Government of Prince Edward Island website .

An initial list of potential recipients will be sent to PEI Student Financial Services in early November for their eligibility review. To be included in this initial review, eligible students must ensure that 

  • their Social Insurance Number is on file at 秀色短视频; 
  • they are registered in full-time studies for both the 2024 Fall and 2025 Winter semesters (unless graduating in the 2024-2025 academic year); 
  • if graduating in the 2024-2025 academic year, they have applied to graduate prior to generation of the list in early November.

秀色短视频 will host Research on Tap with a presentation titled 鈥淩ender unto Caesar: Catholics and the Alt-Right鈥 on Wednesday, October 2, at 6 pm, at the Upstreet Brewery Taproom, 41 Allen St., Charlottetown, PEI.

Dr. Ariana Patey, assistant professor, Department of Religious Studies, is the guest speaker for the event.

鈥淭he Internet has facilitated the creation of an Alt-Right movement that includes Catholics,鈥 she said. 鈥淭his talk explores the ways in which such groups understand and use Catholicism (and the Internet) to attract followers to extremist and white supremacist movements.鈥

Dr. Patey鈥檚 presentation was originally scheduled for last March but had to be postponed at that time because of inclement weather.

Research on Tap is a discussion series featuring 秀色短视频 researchers and is open to students, faculty, staff, and the general public. There is no charge to attend. All are welcome to attend.
 

Each year, Treaty Day is celebrated on October 1. This day serves as the official recognition of the historic Peace and Friendship Treaties between the Mi鈥檏maq and the Crown. These treaties guarantee the Mi鈥檏maq right to hunt, fish, gather, and earn a reasonable living, and still stand today. While these treaties sought to achieve a peaceful coexistence, the Mi鈥檏maq were never conquered, and never surrendered, gave up or ceded their land. Mi鈥檏ma鈥檏i is still Mi鈥檏maw territory.

Everyone is encouraged to recognize we are all treaty people. Being a treaty person means recognizing Epekwitnewaq Mi鈥檏maq Treaty Rights so we can move towards reconciliation together.

All are welcome to attend the second annual Treaty Day Mawi'omi from 12 noon鈥5 pm at the Eastlink Centre, 46 Kensington Road, Charlottetown, featuring opportunities to learn traditional Mi'kmaw customs, dances, songs, art, games, and more.
