Wind Symphony Reunion
December 27–29, 2022
The ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ Music Department invites all of its Wind Symphony alumni to gather to reconnect, rehearse, and perform. With fifty-three years of ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ history and twenty-six years of our Wind Symphony – formerly known as Concert Band – we hope that all available music alumni, in addition to other long serving members, will take advantage of this opportunity for fellowship and music making.
A tentative outline of the event, under the leadership of Dr. Simon, appears below and will be finalized in due course. As of October 14, there have been sufficient registrations with a minimum instrumentation to proceed with this event. Submissions from interested Wind Symphony alumni are still welcome.
This is our third attempt to launch this initiative but there are two additional reasons to entice your interest:
- This event will occur in our new Performing Arts Center (PAC) if its construction is completed by late fall. If so, this will be the inaugural event.
- This is Dr. Simon’s final year at ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ and, accordingly, we have the opportunity to perform under his direction one last time.
The repertoire will feature traditional masterworks as well as contemporary pieces of the wind band genre, inclusive of selections from the March 29, 2020 program that was cancelled due to COVID.
