Join the Institute of Island Studies in person or online on December 3, 1-2 pm, for 鈥淵arns and Yarns,鈥 an hour of knitting and storytelling on northern islands, when we will discuss and demonstrate island knitting traditions that focus on mittens.

Global Village Celebration 2024

The 2024 Global Village celebration will take place in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre, on November 30 at 3:30 pm. 

Global Village is a celebration of the multiculturalism and diversity that exists on campus, so students from all over the world showcase their culture and traditions, as well as help encourage cultural sensitivity and a global perspective. 

Rethink Your Slides: A Working Session

This 45-minute session is created in collaboration between the TLC, EDIHR, and Accessibility Services. Make an impact on student learning by rethinking your slides. We will touch on simple suggestions that can build a connection with your students and enhance learning. If you haven鈥檛 reviewed your slides recently or if you feel like you need some support in this process, this is a great space to ask questions and be among others who are feeling the same way.

November Meeting: Excellence in Graduate Supervision-Community of Practice

Current and new members of the 秀色短视频 Community of Practice: Excellence in Graduate Supervision are invited to the next CoP meeting. Join Dr. Raquel Hoersting for a conversation about the practical applications of the supervision discrimination model to various practices within graduate supervision. Following a brief overview of the model applied to their own clinical supervision, Dr. Hoersting will engage CoP members in discussing ways the model can be applied to their own graduate supervision.

TRC Mawi鈥檕mi at 秀色短视频 draws large crowd

The TRC Mawi鈥檕mi, held on Friday, October 25, at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre, drew a large crowd made up of members of the Indigenous, campus, and broader community, with many wearing traditional regalia or orange shirts.

The Mawi鈥檕mi was hosted by the 秀色短视频 Faculty of Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research, and Applied Studies (IKERAS); the Department of Student Affairs; and the 秀色短视频 Student Union.

Transgender Day of Remembrance is November 20

The 秀色短视频 will observe the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance on Wednesday, November 20, by flying the transgender flag and lowering all flags to half-mast. The Transgender Day of Remembrance has been held every year on November 20 since 1999, after the deaths of Rita Hester and Chanelle Pickett, transgender women in the United States. The day calls attention to the transgender and gender diverse people who have lost their lives due to anti-trans violence, and raises awareness around the continued adversity that trans people face in our society.
