Current and former ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ athletes nominated for Sport PEI awards
Current and former ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ athletes are among the finalists in three categories of Sport PEI’s annual awards.
Sport PEI will host its 50th annual awards at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall on December 15, 2023. The evening will showcase the Island’s finest amateur sporting accomplishments this year.
Alysha Corrigan, a former ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ Women’s Rugby student-athlete who is now with the national women’s rugby program, is one of the finalists for the Stewart McKelvey Senior Male and Female Athletes of the Year. She won this award in 2022.
Among the finalists for the Synergy Fitness & Nutrition Intercollegiate Male Athlete of the Year is Zach Wilson, a 2023 ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ graduate and former member of the ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ track and field team who now competes for the University of New Brunswick. Wilson was the 2023 Rory Beck Outstanding Academic and Athletic Leadership Award at ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ’s convocation in May and is now attending law school at UNB.
Lexie Murphy, a forward with and captain of ÐãÉ«¶ÌÊÓƵ Women’s Hockey, is nominated for Synergy Fitness & Nutrition Intercollegiate Female Athlete of the Year. Murphy was named the Atlantic University Sport women's hockey top defensive player for the 2022–2023 season.
